There is a problem with the compatibility of your plugin and my tweet my blog plugin what tweet my blog does is automatically tweet my blog posts. Anyway, once I added your plugin it would tweet my posts o.k. but when you click on the link to the posts on twitter it only brings up the header for tweet my blog and not my blog. The plugin was working fine before and the only thing I changed was adding linking press. I am not real concerned on this because obviously getting one way links is king over tweeting my posts automatically and I have since disabled the tweet my blog plugin but if you find a way to fix this let me know would ya? Thanks
Donald

admin 04.03.09 at 12:23 am

Donald,

Thanks for the feedback. Is the tweet my blog a free plugin? If so, I’ll download and check it out.

Dave

Donald 04.03.09 at 12:34 pm

yes tweet my blog is free.. you have to go through a couple of special “once in a lifetime junk” pages after you sign up but you will still get the download for free. Also, I wanted to ask if there was anything in the works to prevent people from cheating in linking press?

admin 04.03.09 at 1:41 pm

Hi Donald,

re: cheating, for right now, it is up to you to reject the site … enough rejections and the site gets dropped from the system.

Dave

Donald 04.04.09 at 8:51 am

another problem… I have two links going out but when I go to the admin in out links page there is nothing showing for in coming and out going?

admin 04.04.09 at 10:49 am

Hi Donald,

I have released a fix, version 0.2 and emailed you a download link.

Thanks.

Dave

Steve1943 04.04.09 at 5:39 pm

Sorry bout LT2 but welcome Linking Press.

LP is opportune for me as most of my new sites are WP (after a struggle up the learning curve). The SEO and syndication advantages of WP are overwhelming.

Only serious concerns going forward are (a) performance as WP bloats and (b) compatibility of plug-ins with WP version proliferation.

Might be helpful if you published the WP versions validated compatible with LinkingPress.

Michael Gunn 04.08.09 at 10:32 am

The outbound links being displayed on my page have no break between them so the description sentences all run together.

Just FYI. ;-)

Dot 04.10.09 at 12:23 pm

There seems to be some problem I have installed the plugin on two sites and do not see any links on the created page nor do I see the links in-out control panel in settings just the description set up panel so I must be doing something wrong. I have installed on both a subdomain site as well as a top level WP blog. Any ideas for me?
Dot

admin 04.10.09 at 12:57 pm

Hi Dot,

Looks like you just installed the plugin on your ezbuys123 site … takes at least 24 hours before the first link in or out shows up.

Not sure about your other blogs, but if they accept links from related blogs only, the number of related blogs is limited as this time … will take awhile until other blogs in the same category that are related are available.

To see how many blogs are in each category, click on the Linkingpress badge (below the Feedburner badge) for stats.

Thanks.

Dave

Blog Posting Software 04.11.09 at 1:02 am

Hi Dave.

Mine might be the same as Dot’s…

I have added LP to automaticblogtools but so far no content in the Computers category so I changed it to Business (figuring there’d be more sites there).

Still nothing showing. So I’m just checking that I’ve done things right.

Gary

admin 04.11.09 at 9:20 am

Gary,

You should see links to your site within 24 hours.

I checked your site, since you did not request links from related sites only, it does not matter which category your site is in.

Thanks.

Dave

Chris 04.14.09 at 9:10 am

Hi Dave,

Looks like Linkingpress has the makings of a great system. I’ve installed it on a number of my blogs.

On checking a couple of sites that are hosting links to my site, I can’t find any link to the links page on their homepage. The link is either very well hidden or not there at all.

Do you have any checks in place to ensure that the links page remains in place and is accessible to visitors and the search engines?

Thanks
Chris

admin 04.14.09 at 9:29 am

Hi Chris,

Thank you.

I have noticed the same thing. A person contacted me saying that a link to his links page did not show on his blog’s home page even though it did in fact exist … after some debugging, we came to the conclusion that a couple of plugins where supressing his links page (specifically, Simple Sidebar Navigation and / or WPML Multilingual CMS) - removing those plugins allowed the link to his links page to show.

This is a problem that I need to figure out. In the back of my mind I have a solution that would not allow the plugin to be fully active until the links page is confirmed. That will be next on the “to do” list.

Thanks for participating.

Dave

Chris 04.14.09 at 6:19 pm

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the update.

One other quick observation - some of my sites are linking to each other. This is not a major problem, and I know I can delete the links manually, but it would be nice to be able to have the option of excluding your own sites automatically. I guess that would mean some sort of registration would be necessary?

Thanks
Chris

admin 04.14.09 at 8:19 pm

Hi Chris,

The best I can do, without requiring registration, is to prohibit sites on the same IP from linking … I’ll implement that on the next version.

Dave

admin 04.15.09 at 1:28 am

Chris,

The plugin no longer allows sites on the same IP to link to or from each other … I know this doesn’t help you for sites you own that are on different IPs.

Dave

admin 04.15.09 at 1:34 am

@Gary,

re: “Still nothing showing. So I’m just checking that I’ve done things right.” - since two days ago, I see two sites linking to yours and your site is linking out to three other sites.

Dave

Steven 04.16.09 at 8:28 am

I have checked and is unable to find the link page in the ‘Pages’ directory.

Where can I find the link page?

Thank you and have a good day ahead.

Waterpup 04.23.09 at 11:53 am

I installed LinkingPress a week ago and got 3 inbound links in 3 days. Thought that’s cool, at least better than adding 100s a day it looks real. However ever since then links have stopped and the reads “Last update: 17 April 2009, 7:20 pm” and no links since. However each day the “minutes to next update” indicator changes.

Is it just me?

admin 04.23.09 at 12:43 pm

Steven, Typically the link page on your site is displayed automatically. If you have a plugin that controls which pages are shown, then you will need to use that to display your links page.

Waterpup, For the last update, that is when you links page was last updated. If you visit your links page, then the time and the links displayed on your page will update (assuming 24 hours have passed since your links page was updated - which is the case for you). Links are distributed as links pages are visited. There is no automatic scheduling that occurs - updates occur no more frequently than 24 hours.

For instance, if a potential link partner’s links page is visited frequently (multiple times per day), then that links page is updated on the next visit that occurs at least 24 hours after that page gets updated.

For a potential link partner’s page that is visited infrequently - say every couple of days, on the next visit that page will be updated.

Dave

Waterpup 04.23.09 at 5:45 pm

So if I visit my links page (I a call it Resources) then any other incoming links I have will be updated? Also I only have an affiliate ad up there, other than that no other outgoing links.

admin 04.23.09 at 6:18 pm

If you visit your links page, only the outgoing links from your site will update. When other potential partner’s link pages are visited, those pages are updated - and potentially provide your site an incoming link.

Dave

Waterpup 04.24.09 at 1:31 pm

hhhmm well is it possible for you or someone to visit sites that may or may not have my link? it’s been a week now. Sorry don’t mean to complain. Awesome plugin, I just look forward to being lazy and letting it do the work :)

admin 04.24.09 at 2:21 pm

Waterup, I went ahead and visited some sites, you will have at least one more link in within 24 hours. The purpose of this plugin is so you can be lazy :)

Dave

Waterpup 04.24.09 at 6:58 pm

laaaazy is what I like. Thanks got that link, was concerned because when I first loaded it the links came in then just stopped.

Jeff 04.28.09 at 5:14 am

I can’t update the description in the WP admin - when i try it keep getting back to the old text?

Do i have to delete everything and start over again?

admin 04.28.09 at 9:10 am

Hi Jeff,

Just to clarify, you are referring to the description box that occurs after the Keyword Phrase3 box on the Setup page?

Right now, there is not the ability to delete everything - I’ll have a release out in the next couple of days that allows you to completely delete Linkingpress and start over.

Thanks.

Dave

Waterpup 05.01.09 at 5:46 pm

hhhmmmm still no new links.

admin 05.03.09 at 11:47 am

Waterup … patience my friend, patience. Dave

Lonnie 05.03.09 at 9:17 pm

I installed… not seeing any links displayed on the “Links” page.

But, when I look at my settings under LinkingPress Links IN and OUT under links I do see three links coming in, and one going out.

So, how come they’re not being displayed on my Links page?

Thanking you in advance.

admin 05.03.09 at 9:41 pm

Hi Lonnie,

On your link’s page, a description provided by another Linkingpress member is being displayed. That person mistakenly did NOT include their keywords in the description, hence no link to that site.

Thanks for the feedback.

Dave

Susan 05.04.09 at 3:19 pm

I accidentally deleted the wrong link. Is there any way to get it back? Thanks.

admin 05.05.09 at 12:47 am

Susan, If you let me know what your domain is, I can restore the deleted site. Leave a comment with the domain (I won’t post the domain here). Sounds like this would be a worthwhile feature to add in another release. Thanks. Dave

Susan 05.05.09 at 2:16 pm

Yes, that would be a great feature to have. I accidentally deleted an incoming link to ******. I meant to delete one of the outgoing links, which I then did. If you could restore the incoming link, that would be great. Thanks for this. I’m really loving this plugin so far!

Susan 05.07.09 at 1:13 am

I have another suggestion. It would be good if we could exclude “adult” links from sites that aren’t appropriate for them. I have nothing against adult sites, but I don’t want links to them on my family sites. Perhaps people could rate their own sites as adult or not, and choose whether to include or exclude such links. Just a thought. :-)

admin 05.14.09 at 11:46 pm

Hi Susan,

I undeleted the incoming link for you.

I agree with you on the adult link idea. I will add an option to declare your blog adult or not and keep those separate from the rest of the blogs.

Tracy Wheeler 05.28.09 at 12:42 pm

I have had LP installed for awhile now but nothing is showing on my blogs links page. When I go to admin, settings, LP and click on links it shows 8 links.

It also shows the following under last updated:
Last update: 7 May 2009, 9:43 am (next update in: -28913 minute) which doesn’t seem quite right if it is supposed to update every 24 hrs.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Tracy Wheeler 05.28.09 at 1:33 pm

Sorry, I have another question. On the Links In page in admin I clicked on the links shown there and on the websites where my links are shown I clicked to make sure the links were working.

What I found is the links on other people sites are linking back to my homepage instead of my blog. My blog is in a sub directory and my homepage is not Wordpress. Even the deep links are going to my homepage as far as I can tell.

Is there a way to make LP link to my blog instead of my homepage? The backlinks are not doing me any good going to my homepage.

Thank you

admin 05.28.09 at 8:07 pm

Hi Tracy,

I have had LP installed for awhile now but nothing is showing on my blogs links page. When I go to admin, settings, LP and click on links it shows 8 links.

If you edited your links page, make sure that this:

[!-- linkingpress --]

is still on the page. Typically, you will need to view the page in HTML (versus Visual) to see this. Reply to this comment if you need further clarification and I will make a video.

Note: Replace “[" with the less than symbol (character above the , key) and replace the "]” with the greater than symbol (character above the . key).

It also shows the following under last updated:
Last update: 7 May 2009, 9:43 am (next update in: -28913 minute) which doesn’t seem quite right if it is supposed to update every 24 hrs. Please tell me what I am doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. A negative number implies that your links page will be updated the next time the links page is visited. If you visit your links page and go back to the last update information, the time will say 23 hours until next update.

Yes, I noticed that also. Will fix that on the next release.

FYI - the deep link feature is not turned on yet.

Dave

Tracy Wheeler 05.28.09 at 9:33 pm

Thanks for your reply Dave.

I have checked the html of my links page and
[!-- linkingpress --] (modified the way you described) is still there.

Also I generally visit my links page once a day just to see if anything has shown up yet. After reading your reply above I went to my links page again then went back to the last update info and it did not change to hours like you said.

Now it shows: Last update: 7 May 2009, 9:43 am (next update in: -29444 minute). Are you sure I am not doing anything wrong? :P

goddess 06.08.09 at 12:37 pm

As far as I know google does not like link pages with large amounts of links on them and I am not a fan of it myself.
I do have your plugin on one of my site and think its a great idea and love that you took the time to make the entire system.
THIS IS MY OPINION: Would’nt it be better if the plugin choose from words in existing post and make links of those instead of making a link page?
Benefits would be greater that the draw back and could make your plugin more google friendly. Link from relevent pages with anchor text (The best links you can get), no reciprocal links, links from pages that have only a few out going links instead of many to many different sites in different niches and more.
Just my thoughts let me know what you think.

EGL 06.08.09 at 2:02 pm

Hello:

Thanks for the plugin.

I installed and while doing set up at 2nd page(where you enter keyword phrases and category), I get “Missing information” error. I made sure I entered all fields including description with keywords.

This is wp in Linux. v 2.71

Thanks

admin 06.08.09 at 11:03 pm

goddess,

Thank you for the feedback.

I’ll start by saying I agree with you. It would be better if the plugin choose from words in existing posts and make links of those instead of making a link page.

To be honest, I actually have a plugin that does just that. I use it in a private network I am involved with - and it works great - especially when the links go to products for sale :)

I’m *speculating* that there would not be as much interest in that type of plugin then what Linkingpress currently does. Would you be willing to link out from your posts to other sites? If there is enough interest, I am willing to provide …

Thanks.

Dave

admin 06.08.09 at 11:05 pm

EGL,

Any chance you would email a link to your blog … if you reply to this comment, I will receive an email (I’ll keep your blog url private if you like).

Thanks.

Dave

Helena 06.10.09 at 7:30 am

Thank you Dave
Just want to thank you on your site too.
You are really a nice guy.
As I said in my email once I deactivated some of my plugins I was able to get yours installed.
It is working like a clock and I have already 3 links showing.
I’m really not good with all the technical stuff and your willingness to even make me a video to help surpassed all my expectations.
Again thank you!!!

admin 06.10.09 at 9:18 am

Hi Helena,

You’re welcome.

Glad it worked out … would be interested to know which plugins you deactivated so I can figure out why they don’t play well together. Thanks.

Dave

Aleksandra 06.11.09 at 10:19 am

Hi, I was wondering how I can get a banner for LP to advertise on my blog?

Dick Ingersoll 06.11.09 at 4:01 pm

How do I delete a link if it’s not in keeping with my theme?

admin 06.12.09 at 12:53 am

Aleksandra,

http://www.linkingpress.org/images.php

I’m also sending you an email with more details.

Thanks.

Dave

admin 06.12.09 at 1:03 am

Hi Dick,

Login to your Wordpress blog, click on Settings->LinkingPress Links Page->Links and then click on “Remove” for blogs that aren’t matching your theme.

An alternative is to select “Related Sites Only” in the setup section of Linkingpress.

Let me know if you would like pics or video explaining.

Thanks.

Dave

Dick 06.12.09 at 12:40 pm

Hi Dave,

That’s what I needed, worked great! I do have “Related Sites Only” set but this link was not related. It was political and my site is personal development. Not a big deal if I know how to get rid of those that would just not serve my visitors.

Thanks,
Dick

Helena 06.12.09 at 1:54 pm

Hi Dave
I deactivated the following plugins: tweet-my-blog, exec-php, Wordpress Navigation List Plugin NAVT.
Thank you again for a wonderful plugin - already 18 outgoing links and 6 incoming links.
Please send me also your details for a banner
Helena

Goddess 06.13.09 at 9:27 am

I would love to see that plugin in action. I would have no problems linking out if I can recieve the same quality links back.
Please send me a copy of that plugin to my email and details about your network if its open to join.
I can’t see how you would think there would be little interest in the best link plugin I have ever heard of.

admin 06.13.09 at 10:23 am

Hi Goddess,

You can download the plugin here, http://www.linkingpress.org/download.php

Details regarding the plugin here, http://www.linkingpress.org/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-linkingpress/

Hope that helps.

Dave

EDIT: 26 June 2009

Oops, I misunderstood … the plugin I have is for a private (emphasis on private) network I am part of and is not available. Sorry.

Dave

Karuna 06.15.09 at 11:46 pm

I have installed Linkingpress on a few of my blogs, and I find that they are interlinked thru your plugin. Now, I am also a member of mywaylinks, and there they do not prefer reciprocal links because I believe they are not favored by Google. What is your take on this ?

Helena 06.22.09 at 4:07 am

Hi Dave
I do get requests from other webmasters to link to them from my linkingpress links page.
Is this possible or do I have to make a separate page for manual links?
They are not on WP - otherwise I could’ve suggested your plugin.

Tracy Wheeler 06.26.09 at 12:16 pm

Hi Dave,
It has been awhile since I last contacted you about the problem I am having with your plugin. I still have nothing showing on my links page although I have 10 incoming links and 1 outgoing in my admin page.

The counter to the next update is still not working correctly either. It now says: Last update: 7 May 2009, 9:43 am (next update in: -70643 minute). I have uninstalled and deleted the plugin then reinstalled it and I get the same thing.

Any other help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Also I would be interested in the plugin Goddess was asking about as well. When I tried the download link you provided above though I just got the normal LinkPress plugin download. :(

Thanks for your help

admin 06.26.09 at 1:46 pm

Karuna,

Regarding interlinking your blogs through this plugin … Linkingpress will not link blogs that share the same IP address.

Dave

admin 06.26.09 at 1:47 pm

Helena,

You can edit the linkingpress links page to include other content, in your case links to other sites.

Dave

admin 06.26.09 at 1:54 pm

Tracy,

I’ll make a video in the next few days and post it for you showing what I *think* is the issue.

Dave

MadDog 03.03.10 at 11:35 pm

I’ve had this plugin installed for 3 days now, but still no links. I notice there are not posts here in the last 8 months. Is this plugin still operational?

MadDog 03.07.10 at 6:42 pm

Disregard previous post, I have my first link now. However, I noticed that my first keyword phrase was not linked, even though it is listed verbatim in the description. My second and third keyword phrases were linked correctly.

admin 03.07.10 at 7:20 pm

MadDog,

Linkingpress randomly hyperlinks two of three keywords. Wait till you start getting additional links.

Dave

Greg 03.12.10 at 11:08 am

Dave,

I have a brand new WP blog that I added the LP plugin to. And I am getting an error: “Details NOT added, error 501″ when I click the “add details” button. The 501 in the message is linked to an /errors page on this site that doesn’t seem to exist. I have LP installed on three other blogs and it is working great. This new blog doesn’t have any real posts yet - could that be the problem? The WP version is 2.9.2

Thanks,
Greg

MadDog 03.15.10 at 8:12 pm

Here’s something strange; yesterday I removed one outbound link (to a spam site that was hacked and shut down), and today all of my inbound and outbound links are gone.

MadDog 03.21.10 at 2:13 pm

Disregard, they’re back. Must have been a short-term glitch
